As part of the investigation of serious Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) cases in the Republic of Congo, a team from the vaccination committee (“Vaccine safety monitoring” sub-committee) supported by Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Médicale (FCRM) visited the Pointe-Noire department from 19 to 24 December 2021.

This mission consisted in investigation of the cases of serious AEFI reported in this department and strengthening the capacities of the Departmental Focal Points (PFD) in these investigations.

The actors in the field were thus able to collect and document cases of serious AEFI and AEFI of interest and at the same time, enlighten the vaccination committee and all the stakeholders in vaccination on the unfounded recurring rumours of death following the vaccination in this department.

The presence of members of the central level in Pointe-Noire was also an opportunity to strengthen the capacities of those involved in vaccine safety surveillance in this department.
